The all British blockbuster of Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua, which has eluded fans for so many years, may finally be on the verge of getting made.

The two heavyweight stars had previous signed to face each other back in 2020 when both men controlled all the belts in the division, however, after a legal battle, Fury was forced to fight Deontay Wilder for a third time and the AJ clash was put on the back burner.

Fast forward four years and neither man has a belt to his name, both dethroned and beaten twice by former cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury lost for the second time to the Ukrainian on a close points decision in December, whereas, Joshua is coming off a stunning knockout defeat to current IBF champion Daniel Dubois. With both men seemingly at a crossroads, a fight between the two seems the logical next step.

Speaking to Seconds Out, former three-time Fury foe Derek Chisora said the two-time champions a need a rest but backed AJ to knockout Fury if they do finally get in the ring together.

“I would love to see that, I think everyone would love to see that, but, I want to see it when the fighters are ready to fight because right now there is pressure from the viewers but personally right now I don’t think both fighters are ready to fight each other. So for now they should just chill out, relax and enjoy their money and when they are ready they can give us a big blockbuster at the end of the summer.

They both just came off of big losses so they are not ready yet to go back into training camp for another fight, they’re not ready yet. Tyson has been training back to back, AJ has been training back to back, they both lost, so they’re not even ready to lace up the gloves yet.

AJ [will win] all day long. He’ll stop him, he has to.”

‘The Gypsy King’ hasn’t spoken about any future plans since his second loss to Usyk, whilst AJ has made it clear that Fury is at the top of his 2025 hit-list.
