Derek Chisora kicked off his professional campaign all the way back in 2007 with a win over Istvan Kecskes.
Since then, the Finchley fighter has been in with Tyson Fury three times, Oleksandr Usyk, Joseph Parker twice, Vitali Klitschko, David Haye and plenty more.
Although falling short in his two world title attempts, he has held the British, Commonwealth and European belts in his time on the heavyweight scene. He returns to the ring next month to face Joe Joyce amidst calls for retirement.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Chisora said that he wasn’t yet ready to hang up the gloves because of the consistency of training and the buzz of fight night.
“I enjoy training. I enjoy everything I do in the morning, wake up early, go to the gym, sparring, the long runs, everything. The moment I don’t enjoy it is the day I hang up the gloves.
There’s no way you can get it. When you’re about to walk in the ring in front of 20,000 or 50,000, it’s difficult to get that buzz apart from boxing and football.”
Asked how many fights he had left in him at 40, Chisora said three which, including Joyce, will put him on 50 total à la Floyd Mayweather.
“Yeah I still got the bug. I still love it. I’ve said I’ve got three more fights, and this will be number 48.”
The love for the sport doesn’t mean he’s interested in overtime. He predicted a first round stoppage when the two Brits meet on July 27.
“It’s gonna be a dust-up, bro. I’ll be honest with you, I’m gonna do him in one round. I’m not even bothered, 100% I’m gonna do it in one round cause I need to go home quickly.”
