Great British warrior Derek Chisora has one fight left in his career.
The popular Londoner has always been in hugely entertaining fights that have lived up to his ‘War’ mantra. In all there has now been 49 of them, and last time out he beat Otto Wallin via unanimous points decision to take his record to 36 wins, 23 by KO with 13 losses.
In that time Chisora has taken on a who’s who of talent including Dillian Whyte, Joe Joyce, Joseph Parker, David Price, Tyson Fury, and David Haye amongst many more.
He also famously welcomed soon to be undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk to the top division after one lower level bout and gave the Ukrainian one of his hardest nights inside the ropes, though he lost on points.
‘Del Boy’ has long said he wanted to bow out on 50 fights. He is now right on the cusp of that milestone and, in a new post on X, has named Usyk as the man he wants to take on in his final contest in what would, he claims, be a sold out Wembley Stadium in London.
“I will sell out Wembley or Tottenham against Oleksandr Usyk more than any other fighter. Let’s make it happen.”
Chisora may struggle to get Usyk in the ring again, and it isn’t a fight many fans would like to see him take given the threat of the unified champion.
The skilled southpaw has been clear that one of his final motivations is to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, so was pursuing a fight with IBF belt holder Daniel Dubois but has now been ordered to fight WBO mandatory Parker.
Chisora could instead look to the likes of Deontay Wilder or a trilogy with Dillian Whyte for his final showdown, though has also mentioned Dubois and Anthony Joshua. He is currently ranked number two with the IBF.
