Derek Chisora has made a shocking prediction for the fight between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.
After almost three years of build-up following their first fight being cancelled when Benn tested positive for performance-enhancing substances, we are now just weeks away from the first bell.
In the time since, Benn has fought just twice against opposition in the USA and taken two points wins, while Eubank has had more high-profile contests with Liam Smith. He lost the first by KO, then won the return with a stoppage of his own six months later. The 35-year-old then backed that up with another early finish against Kamil Szeremeta in October.
For this match-up, Eubank is naturally the much bigger man having fought former or current champions like George Groves and James DeGale two and three weight divisions above Benn’s comfortable 147 pounds.
Though Benn will be moving up to 160 for the challenge, Eubank faces a rehydration clause on the morning of the fight which means he cannot put on more than 10 pounds over night.
Famously, these two fighter’s fathers came to blows in the 90s and the contests were hard fought and brutal battles that saw both end up in hospital afterwards. When speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, Chisora predicted something similar without yet backing a winner.
“I love both fighters so I’m not going to say who’s gonna win, cause I believe the loser will leave in an ambulance. I just want them to come out healthy and safe.”
Though the heavyweight veteran remains tight-lipped about who he feels will come out on top, late last year he told Pro Boxing Fans he “wants Conor to have a warm-up fight before he gets in there with him.”
The pair have already been close to blows a number of times in the build-up, including live on TV.
