Devin Haney is all in for a showdown with an unbeaten world champion.

The 26-year-old from San Francisco, California made his long-awaited return to the ring at the beginning of last month, defeating former unified super-lightweight champion Jose Ramirez via unanimous decision after an underwhelming twelve rounds in New York City.

‘The Dream’ hadn’t fought since he was beaten by Ryan Garcia in April of last year, although the result was then overturned no a no contest after it was revealed that ‘King Ry’ had tested positive for a banned substance during fight week.

Haney – who faced Ramirez at a catchweight of 144 pounds – has now called out reigning IBF super-lightweight champion Richardson Hitchins, who made the first defence of his crown against George Kambosos Jr on Saturday night.

In the moments following his victory over Kambosos, Hitchins made it very clear that he would be open to a bout against Haney in the near future.

Haney responded to this in a social media post of his own, but insisted that he would rather face Hitchins at welterweight instead of making 140 on the scales once more.

Haney had also recently agreed to face WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez next before it was revealed that Lopez had pulled out.

It leaves his next opponent up in the air, and fans unclear whether or not he will indeed be making the move to welterweight fully or looking for another catchweight bout.

As for Hitchins, he is more likely to stick around in the super-lightweight ranks and make another defence of his belt, or look to unify.
