Devin Haney and Conor Benn may cross paths in the future.

Haney is a two-weight world champion, formerly undisputed at lightweight, who has made no secret of his ambitions to move up. He makes the first tentative step to do so on May 2 when he faces Jose Ramirez at a catchweight of 144 pounds.

Ryan Garcia, who fights on the same card, is competing for the WBA Regular Welterweight belt against Roland ‘Rolly’ Romero, with wins for both men setting up a rematch after their controversial first contest last year.

On the other side of the pond, Benn is a career long 147 pounder who will make the jump up to 160 this month for a grudge match with Chris Eubank Jr. Though there may be a rematch, the 28-year-old has made it clear that his natural home is welterweight and he will be dropping back down.

It seems both Benn and Haney may soon be going for belts in the welterweight division then. Should it happen, it is safe to say that the American is wildly confident of a win.

While ranking fighters with DAZN, Haney had just two words for Benn:

“F***ing trash.”

The pair have traded verbal jabs in the past, with Haney being vocal about Benn’s failed doping tests and the Brit firing back with a fight offer, vowing to ‘show him his power’ first hand.

It is certainly an intriguing prospect for down the line, but the focus just now remains on what will be an extremely important 2025 for both men.
