Devin Haney returns to action after over a year out tonight when he takes on Jose Ramirez.

After previously reigning as the undisputed lightweight champion, Haney suffered a big shock when he was beaten by Ryan Garcia in April 2024.

The result was overturned to a no contest though after Garcia failed a drugs test as he tested positive for a banned substance following the bout.

In the 12 months since that fight, Haney vacated his WBC super-lightweight title, and is now set to step up to welterweight, beginning with a 144lb catchweight bout against Ramirez this evening.

Ramirez is a former unified 140lb champion, who missed out on the chance to become undisputed in that division when he was beaten by Josh Taylor back in May 2021.

Last time out Ramirez suffered a defeat to Arnold Barboza Jr, and so will be looking to get back on track if he can spring the upset and defeat Haney.

The fight takes place at Times Square in New York, on a card that also features Garcia facing Rolly Romero, with victories for both Haney and Garcia likely setting up a rematch between the two men later this year.
