Anthony Joshua is fast approaching his opportunity to become a three-time world champion when he takes on Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on September 21.
Joshua has spent the last year or so getting back to winning ways following back-to-back losses to the now undisputed king of the heavyweight division, Oleksandr Usyk.
His opponent and fellow Brit Daniel Dubois also lost to the Ukrainian technician last August after having him down with what was ruled an illegal low blow.
Since then, Dubois has stopped Jarrell Miller and Fillip Hrgovic to set up this mouthwatering clash of two big punchers later in the summer.
Popular heavyweight Dillian Whyte has been in the ring with Joshua twice before. He won the first meeting in the amateurs then was on the wrong end of a stoppage loss in the pro ranks back in December 2015 for the British title.
He has now given his verdict to iFL TV.
“Tough fight. I think [Joshua] needs to get to Dubois early. If Dubois gets confidence he’s a massive problem. He needs to jump on him early cause if Dubois starts double jabbing and throwing combinations it could be a long night for Joshua.”
“It’s different. He knows Dubois is younger than him. He’s just trying to control him and get that I’m bigger than you and better than you mentally over. Dubois stood up for himself, he didn’t back down so yeah. That’s what we want to see in boxing, we don’t want rubbish fights, we want excitement.”
Whyte’s last fight was a victory over Christian Hammer back in March after a long time out of the ring.
He will have a close eye on the contest in September and perhaps a chance to get his trilogy with Joshua after it was called off last year due to a failed doping test, something he has been cleared to fight from as it was ruled a contaminated supplement.
