Dillian Whyte knows what it is like to step in the ring with Tyson Fury.

‘The Body Snatcher’ took on ‘The Gypsy King’ for his WBC title at Wembley Stadium in front of a huge crowd back in April 2022 but never established himself in the fight. Come the 6th round he was caught with a huge uppercut which sent him back towards the canvas, unable to recover.

Since then Fury has stopped Derek Chisora, taken a 10-round split decision win over Francis Ngannou and lost on points to Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed crown.

That was the first loss of his career but he has an immediate chance of redemption with a December rematch. Speaking to Sky Sports Boxing, Whyte was asked for his thoughts on that second contest between the two.

“You know it’s a hard one to say, man, it’s a hard one to say. If I’m a betting man I will pick Oleksandr Usyk, but I know from history and I’ve seen Fury fight, seen his resolve, been in camp with him and fought him obviously and seen him always bounce back so it’s hard to go against him.

“He seems to, I don’t know, he’s one of those guys you can’t just write him off cause you think he’s finished and he’s not going to come back then he comes back and produces the goods.”

Despite being asked for a winner, he failed to side with either man.

“Obviously it’s a hard one to pick, man, I can’t pick a winner right now.”

Since the loss, Fury has said was ‘having too much fun’ in the ring and rather lost focus, and has also stood by his corner team despite some accusations by onlookers that he was getting mixed messages towards the end of the fight.
