Dmitry Bivol has reacted to the underwhelming contest between former opponent Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez and William Scull.

Bivol beat Canelo back in 2022 at light-heavyweight, becoming just the second man to do so since Floyd Mayweather years prior. Since then, Canelo has maintained his undefeated streak in the super-middleweight ranks, most recently becoming undisputed for a second time by beating Scull via unanimous decision.

Though the reward on the final bell was historic, the fight was anything but. Scull refused to engage for twelve rounds and frustrated Canelo, who was unable to cut the ring off in time to deliver any real action for the fans.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Bivol offered his verdict on the fight, saying it was not interesting to watch and that Scull’s movement made it hard for Alvarez.

“It’s not interesting to see the fight when one person doesn’t want to win. Doesn’t want to win at all. But, it was a hard fight for Canelo because he was always aiming. Scull didn’t through punches and it’s hard to catch him, you know? He’s just moving. But his movement is good.”

The elite Mexican will move straight into a mega fight with Terence Crawford this coming September in Las Vegas, with the American maybe taking some inspiration from this most recently performance.

As for Bivol, he is setting up for a trilogy with Artur Beterbiev after losing in their first fight but winning the second to become undisputed light-heavyweight champion. Canelo has maintained that he wants a rematch with the Russian down the line.
