Former undisputed light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol has shared his thoughts on Terence Crawford’s historic victory over Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night.

‘Bud’ Crawford defeated the Mexican icon via unanimous decision at a packed out Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to become the first male fighter in boxing history to win an undisputed championship in three weight classes.

In what was his first ring appearance at super-middleweight, the 37-year-old from Omaha put on an impressive display against Canelo who appeared to struggle with the tempo set by the unbeaten American throughout the contest.

The scorecards read 115-113, 115-113 and 116-112 all in favour of Crawford, who now holds all four of the major world titles at super-middleweight and has surely cemented himself as the pound-for-pound number one fighter on the planet.

Speaking on social media, unified light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol shared his thoughts on Crawford’s performance over his former rival, as he claims the 37-year-old deserved to walk away victorious and displayed everything in the fight – “technique, skill, IQ, and power.”

“It was a great fight between two legendary fighters. Technique, skill, IQ, and power! Congratulations to Terence Crawford on a well-earned victory! You deserve this”

It remains to be seen whether ‘Bud’ will continue with what has been an exceptional professional career to date, capturing world titles in five weight divisions including the undisputed crown at super-lightweight, welterweight and now at super-middleweight, an outstanding set of achievements for one of the greatest fighters to have ever graced the sport.

As for Canelo, the former four-division world champion has confirmed that he will fight on.
