Daniel Dubois vowed that he would be back after being stopped in his last fight.
27-year-old Dubois is a former IBF world champion who has already been involved in plenty of big nights. Last time out in July, he took on the now two-time undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk for the second time, and like the first fight in August 2023, he was stopped inside the distance by the great Ukrainian.
It was the end of a superb run that had seen ‘DDD” stop Anthony Joshua inside five rounds last September, and both Filip Hrgovic and Jarrell Miller in the 12 months before that.
Following his latest loss, the Brit has swapped trainers again and is now looking to rebuild once he makes his ring return.
With a new post on X, Billy Nelson has thrown his man Martin Bakole’s name into the hat as a potential comeback opponent.
“Give Martin the chance he smashes Daniel 100%”
Nelson has always spoken up Bakole’s chances, and he built a fine reputation in the gym as a difficult man to spar with plenty of stories about him dropping most of the people he faced.
However, he was stopped inside two rounds by Joseph Parker, though it was a fight he took on short notice as a late stand-in following Dubois’ withdrawal due to illness.
Since then he has fought to an unconvincing draw with Efe Ajagba and has recently been linked with a possible fight with 20-year-old young heavyweight star Moses Itauma, who just stopped Dillian Whyte inside two rounds.
