Daniel Dubois is looking to rebuild his career after a second loss to Oleksandr Usyk in his last fight.
The British former IBF world heavyweight champion had found some career-best form over the last two years. The impressive run saw Dubois knock out Jarrell Miller, then do the same to the tough Croatian Filip Hrgovic, and he completed a fine trilogy of knockout wins in September 2025 when he demolished former two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua inside five rounds.
All this came after an up-and-down early career that saw Dubois lose to Joe Joyce and face questions asked about his heart after seemingly giving up a little too easily when he first fought Usyk in August 2023.
In their second fight, he was stopped inside five rounds and soon after, there was talk of a big party on the afternoon of the fight, disrupting his preparation. Since the loss, Dubois has left trainer Don Charles and is set to team up with former Joshua coach Tony Sims.
Earlier in the year, ‘DDD” was due to fight Joseph Parker, but pulled out last minute due to sickness, but it remained a fight that fans would have been keen to see.
It may not happen anytime soon though, as with Dubois looking to return, promoter Frank Warren revealed on talkSPORT Boxing that ‘DDD’ turned down a second offer to fight Parker due to injury.
“The fight we wanted to make was one between him and Joseph Parker. We offered him the fight but he is now injured. So I now doubt that he will fight again this year. He will likely return in January or February next year.”
Parker, meanwhile, is defending his WBO interim status with a fight against British heavyweight Fabio Wardley in October. The winner will be ordered to face undisputed king Oleksandr Usyk for the full title, however if the Ukrainian vacates either Parker or Wardley will be upgraded to champion. Dubois, it seems, has missed out on a fast track back to the top.
