Daniel Dubois has made it known who he wants to fight next.
Dubois was set to defend his IBF heavyweight title against Joseph Parker in Saudi Arabia in February, but on fight week the reigning champion was pulled from the fight after suffering an illness.
Parker remained on the card and took on replacement opponent Martin Bakole, stopping him inside two rounds, but some boxing fans felt that the New Zealander may have now missed out on the chance to take on Dubois.
That was due to unified heavyweight king and former undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk making it known that he wants to face Dubois next, following their controversial fight from back in August 2023.
Usyk was victorious by ninth round stoppage on that occasion, but earlier in the fight Dubois thought he had dropped the Ukrainian with a body shot, only for it to be ruled as a low blow.
Dubois has now revealed to Podlounge UK who it is that he wants to take on next, and despite the opportunity to face Usyk in an undisputed battle, the Brit wants to re-arrange his scheduled fight with Parker.
“I want to run it back [with Parker]. If they can get that fight on, that’s the fight I want next. It’s unfinished business and it’s left a bitter taste in my mouth.
“I want to fight them all. I want to fight Parker definitely. Hopefully Turki might hear this and make it happen in England at Wembley or something. I want to fight Parker, that’s unfinished business for me. If not Parker, Usyk or AJ, these are the guys I want next.
“I see it as unfinished business. For me, that’s unfinished business. All I know is I’ll be fighting in July. That’s what I’ve heard. There’s a date in July for me. Which one of them they’ll get for me I don’t know. I don’t really care.
“I just want to put someone to sleep again and get back out there and show the people that I’m the man and I’m ready to go and ready for everyone.”
It will become clear soon if Dubois can get his wish, with a potential IBF mandatory against Derek Chisora also a potential option for ‘DDD.’
