Daniel Dubois is weeks away from the fight of his life, but he already has eyes on what might be next.

The young Brit is currently IBF Heavyweight World Champion, having won the interim belt against Filip Hrgovic before being elevated to full titlist when Oleksandr Usyk vacated to honour a rematch with Tyson Fury.

A first defence against Anthony Joshua that ended in a brutal fifth round knockout has now earned Dubois his own second fight against the Ukrainian, after losing to him by stoppage back in 2023.

Should he manage to collect the remaining three belts, ‘DDD’ told the Ring Magazine that he would target a fight with countryman Fury.

“I think he will come back. Seeing all the belts on the line, I think he’ll fancy it. He’ll come out [of retirement] for sure. That’s what I want. We need the heavyweight division to be healthy, for us fighters to get up for a real mega fight like that. That would be a mega fight. That’s what you want.”

The big-punching Brit has set himself a target of beating the three top dogs of this generation in Usyk, ‘AJ’ and Fury, saying:

“Those are the top guys of their era. I need to show this is a new era, a new age, that there’s a new heavyweight on the scene and his name is Daniel Dubois.”

After announcing his retirement in January post-second Usyk loss, ‘The Gypsy King’ has spent time convincing fans that he is serious about not fighting again this time. However, this week he said he would return for a trilogy with Usyk, announced he was open to a Joshua fight for the right money and said he would ‘box the ears off’ Dubois.

Fury then doubled down on his return by releasing a fight date of April 18 for a trilogy with Usyk, but the unified champion’s team have said there is no substance to this.

All eyes turn to Wembley Stadium on July 19 when Dubois looks to right the wrongs of his first encounter with the elite Ukrainian.
