Daniel Dubois Trainer Don Charles Predicts Moses Itauma vs Filip Hrgovic

Don Charles has been looking ahead to Moses Itauma‘s fight with Filip Hrgovic and has outlined one key area of weakness.

Itauma will be stepping up to fight in his first world title contest later this month. He will enter the ring with 14 wins from 14 fights, 12 of them coming by way of knockout and the vast majority within the first couple of rounds.

He has proven himself to have fast hands and plenty of power while knocking out the likes of Dillian Whyte and Jermaine Franklin.

Hrgovic himself has lost just once, and that was when he was stopped against Daniel Dubois in June 2024, so he goes into the fight with plenty of confidence.

Most recently, he has knocked out Dave Allen and David Adeleye, and now, speaking to Box Nation, Dubois’s trainer Charles explained how he sees the fight going.

“That’s a very, very interesting fight. A very interesting fight. Again, I think Moses, what he has shown to date, where you have Hrgovic is bringing the experience, the toughness; Moses is just a sharp shooter. I think he’ll be too quick, too fresh, too young, and smart.

“He’s got good boxing IQ, I see him being the victor. He may have to go through some turbulence. He might have to experience some turbulence because Hrgovic is not a pushover; he’s a very tough and hard man. He’s had an extensive amateur career, so he brings all that experience as a pro, but I think Moses is just too sharp.”

He then outlined one key area that Hrgovic could be susceptible.

“Also, as you know, Hrgovic has sustained terrible cuts when he fought Daniel [Dubois], so any time anyone remotely hits that area, it opens up, and Moses being such a sharp, accurate puncher, I can se those cuts opening up early and that being the beginning of the end.”

Whoever comes out on top will have to then defend against mandatory challenger Frank Sanchez, while a unification with WBA ruler Murat Gassiev could await further down the line.
