Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul are just days away from their unlikely but much-anticipated meeting in the squared circle.
Last time Joshua fought was in September 2024 when he challenged for the IBF world title and was knocked out inside five rounds by then-champion Daniel Dubois.
The former two-time unified ruler has taken time out to recover from an elbow injury since then, while Paul has continued to take on former MMA stars and ageing boxers to get his record up to 13 fights with just one loss to Tommy Fury, though he has never fought anyone of the size and experience of Joshua.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Dubois’s coach Don Charles expressed his general disbelief at the contest and said that Paul shouldn’t be in a ring with ‘AJ.’
“Listen, the world we live in has change from how we know it so anything is possible and if that is what’s happening, it’s not going to be an exhibition, I am surprise by that as you just wouldn’t put Jake Paul in the same ring as Anthony Joshua, surely, but if it’s for real may the best man win. Come on, gosh, the world has changed you know.”
The vast majority of the boxing world are expecting a swift, devastating and conclusive knot to come from Anthony Joshua early in the fight, or else the Brit risks huge reputational damage and a severe derailment of his career.
With talk of a much-anticipated showdown with Tyson Fury in 2026 finally starting to gather steam once more, there is plenty on the line for ‘AJ’ going into this fight this weekend.
