We caught up with Matchroom Boxing head honcho Eddie Hearn yesterday at the press conference for tomorrow’s NXTGEN show at York Hall, headlined by Conor Benn. The subject of recently deposed unified heavyweight king Anthony Joshua – Matchroom’s standard-bearer – was never far from the surface.
Hearn insisted that, financially, a Matchroom without AJ would be largely unaffected but that even if Joshua should lose again to Andy Ruiz Jr in their rematch, he believes the Brit does not have to retire.
