Eddie Hearn has spoken about Oleksandr Usyk’s potential rematch with Daniel Dubois.

Usyk is in the autumn of his career, approaching 40 years old. He has already achieved everything there is to achieve in the sport as a former undisputed cruiserweight champion in 2018 who then became undisputed heavyweight champion in 2024 with a victory over Tyson Fury.

The Ukrainian backed that up with a second win in the rematch back in December, which sent Fury into retirement. He now has only one aim left and that is to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight ruler. To do so, he will have to recapture the IBF belt he vacated in order to honour his rematch with Fury.

That belt is currently in the possession of Dubois, a man Usyk has already beaten when they fought back in August 2023. However, that was a controversial win in the minds of some, given that Usyk was down from a shot that was ruled low by the referee, so he was given all the time he needed to recover.

Speaking to iFL TV, Hearn was asked about a potential rematch between the two champions.

“As I understand it, that’s a fight that they’re trying to make, everybody, Frank and the Board, and I presume Usyk and the team and DAZN of course, it’s a good fight. Dubois is definitely in with a shout there to become undisputed, so hopefully another big fight for British Boxing.”

The fight deal is reportedly now in its final stages, meaning that Usyk has successfully been able to put his mandatory defence against Joseph Parker on hold.
