Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke are set to renew their rival this weekend as they rematch on the undercard of Dmitry Bivol‘s light heavyweight showdown with Artur Beterbiev.
These two British heavyweights first did battle in March. It was an epic 12-round war for Wardley’s British and Commonwealth titles and ended in a split decision draw after both men had given their all, throwing huge hellacious shots across the fight but also taking just as many.
Wardley’s nose was badly broken and bleeding heavily through much of the fight, but Clarke – an Olympic Bronze Medalist to Wardley’s white collar background – was put down heavy in the fifth round which slowed his progress.
Speaking to iFL TV, promoter Eddie Hearn was asked for his prediction for the rematch this weekend.
“I really like both guys. Got loads of time for Fabio. Known Frazer for years. I think Frazer’s conditioning is going to have to be better in this fight. I worry about Fabio’s nose. There is a bit of damage there from last time.
“Sometimes when you have that injury, it’s like Brian Rose, every fight, after two rounds, it was like here we go again. Frazer’s got to do damage early but Wardley is very sharp early.
“I think I lean towards Frazer, I think the experience he got in the last fight really helped him. May the best man win.”
Whoever comes out on top will be looking to move on to the next level.
