Eddie Hearn‘s Matchroom has one of the most notable stables in boxing.

Over the past decade, the 45-year-old has grown the company from a modest collection of British fighters into a world-beating selection of stars from all over.

Hearn has worked with some of the biggest names in the sport including Anthony Joshua, Devin Haney, Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez and Oleksandr Usyk, and is now targetting another pound-for-pound American talent for his stable after he recently secured welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis’ signature.

Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Hearn said he would love to work with Shakur Stevenson, who is soon to be a free agent having previously been in a deal with Bob Arum’s Top Rank.

“I’ve said before, I can’t praise him highly enough. Pound-for-pound quality. His people want to talk and we’re definitely willing to have those conversations. I don’t think commercially he is anywhere near where he should be. Promotionally he needs a job done on him. And he has to buy into that as well, you know.

Jaron Ennis bought into that look at him now. One of the top stars in the sport and about to do 15000 in his hometown next week. Look at Bam Rodrigues, people talk about they don’t know how to build these fighters but no one is doing what we’re doing in America. We’re ambitious, we’ve got a great stable, and we’d love to have Shakur Stevenson as part of it.”

Stevenson is a three-weight world champion and currently has the WBC lightweight belt. He has won all 21 of his fights, 10 by KO, and this weekend takes on Artem Harutyunyan. He has confirmed he will be exploring all options when it comes to his promotional partnership.
