Errol Spence Jr knows better than most just how good Terence Crawford is.
Spence and Crawford met in an undisputed welterweight showdown in 2023 that had been years in the making, pitting together two undefeated fighters that were the best of their generation.
While it was seen as a 50-50 clash heading into the bout, it certainly didn’t unfold that way, with ‘Bud’ dominating and claiming a ninth round stoppage win to walk away with all four world title belts.
Since that victory, ‘Bud’ has moved up in weight, and made it known that he would head further up the divisions for a battle against fellow pound-for-pound star Canelo Alvarez.
Spence has told Fight Hub TV how he feels a fight between Crawford and Canelo would go, and feels ‘Bud’ could secure the win.
“It could happen, I mean why not? If Crawford wants to challenge himself to be great then let him try to be great you know, so I’m with it.
I’ll be going for ‘Bud’ if he fights Canelo, I’ll be going for him. I don’t know if he’s going to win or lose but I’ll definitely be going for Crawford. I think if anybody can pull it off he can pull it off.
He’s chasing greatness so why not? Canelo went up to 175 and fought Kovalev and fought the other guy [Bivol] too, so if he can do it, and he started at 147, so if he doing then why can’t Crawford do it.”
Spence has also given his take on how ‘Bud’ would have done against a prime Floyd Mayweather.
