Chris Eubank Jr. could be set for a massive fight after the proposed rematch with Conor Benn.
Eubank Jr looks set to face Benn for a second time later this year following their action-packed battle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in April.
The fight took place two-and-a-half years after it was originally scheduled to be, with their October 2022 clash abandoned on fight week after Benn tested positive for a banned substance.
Despite the lengthy delay, it was arguably worth the wait, with the two men putting on a superb showing, as Eubank Jr claimed bragging rights by securing a unanimous decision victory to hand Benn the first loss of his professional career.
Should the rematch go ahead as expected, Eubank Jr’s manager Elliott ‘Napper’ Amoakoh has told Talksport that his man has been told he will secure a showdown with undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.
“Hopefully Canelo gets through Terence Crawford, we get through Conor Benn and then they’ll do it next. So that’s the negotiations that’s going on right now.
“Turki promised it to us. If Chris comes through that, Eubank Jr-Canelo, here we go. That’s what we want, we get through Conor Benn and then we want Canelo.”
Canelo returns to action in September, when he will put his four titles at 168lbs on the line against fellow pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford.
Eubank has been linked to a fight with Canelo for a number of years, but as of yet has been unsuccessful in stepping into the ring with the Mexican superstar.
