Chris Eubank Jr. has claimed that his November rematch with Conor Benn is not yet fully signed and sealed.
The bitter British and family rivals first went at it back in April and put on an engaging, impressive 12-round show. It was the experience and natural size of Eubank that won it as he got a foothold in the fight and went on to claim the unanimous decision.
Not long after, talk of a rematch emerged and it was eventually confirmed for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on November 15.
However, speaking to Inside The Ring, Eubank admitted that certain contractual terms for the fight have not yet been set in stone.
“These are not easy waters to navigate. You know, the final contract for this fight hasn’t actually even been fully agreed on. So, you know, there’s still a few things that we’re gonna try and smooth out and make right.
“Yes, we agreed for a second fight before the first fight. But there are certain parts of the contract that are still up for negotiation. I’m not gonna go into what parts of those contracts they are, but we are in negotiations for certain things. So, it’s up to me and my team to get the best deal.”
Eubank could well be talking about the weight situation. Last time out, the fight was made at 160lbs and Benn came up from his more natural division, while Eubank was hampered by a rehydration clause on the morning of the fight that prevented him from putting on more than 10lbs from the weigh-in, something that promoter Ben Shalom has recently stated hasn’t been agreed to yet for the second meeting.
