Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn are set to meet for a second time later this year.
Eubank Jr and Benn reignited their fathers’ storied rivalry with an all-action 12-round clash back in April at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. After a good start from Benn, it was Eubank Jr whose natural size advantages and greater experience meant he got a foothold in the fight and eventually came out as a unanimous points winner, despite narrowly missing weight and being restricted by a rehydration clause on the morning of the contest.
The same rules around weight will be in place for this second contest, which comes more than three years after their first scheduled fight was canned late in the day when Benn failed a drug test.
The rematch was initially agreed upon for September, but was delayed and is now locked in for November 15 at the same venue.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Eubank Jr’s manager Napper was very clear in his answer when asked if there could be a trilogy fight with Benn.
“Conor Benn ain’t winning and we’re not fighting him a third time after beating him twice. We’re moving onto other stuff.”
A win for Eubank would end this saga once and for all and allow him to look to other challengers in future. He has long chased multi-weight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and the Mexican legend is said to be looking for a fight in the UK before he retires, so that could be one explosive possibility.
