Chris Eubank Sr has spoken about whether or not he thinks his son Jr should rematch Conor Benn.
Back in April, these two generational rivals finally stepped into the ring together. After almost three years of build-up following their first ill-fated date, which was canned in October 2022 when Benn tested positive for banned substances, they put on an impressive 12-round show.
Both men were hugely active and aggressive throughout. Benn started well and banked the early rounds with his front foot pressure and non-stop barrage of punches, but Eubank’s natural size showed late on as he took control with his own work and eventually ran out a unanimous points winner.
Eubank Sr was in attendance for the fight to support his son, and speaking on his own Call Chris Eubank YouTube Channel, he outlined why he is against the idea of them doing it all again.
“I was in the back of the ambulance with my son. My son was dehydrated. When you take liquid out of a man when he doesn’t have it to take this is why rules are in place to safeguard the fights. And they’re using this to harm him. They’re going to try and draw him down to this weight.
It was noticed he wasn’t even sweating after 12 rounds. This is dehydration, so you think I’m going to take on board this idea of a rematch? You must be mad. My son doesn’t need a rematch, ’cause he has something now that money can’t buy.”
