Chris Eubank Sr has been speaking about his son’s rematch with Conor Benn.
The generational rivals first fought in April 2025 after more than two years of protracted buildup. That included a failed drug test for Benn, lots of verbal back and forth, then once the fight was announced, a controversial egg-slap at the first media day, and Eubank Jr missing weight, who was also hampered by a rehydration clause on the morning of the contest.
Despite that, it was his naturally bigger size that told in the fight and saw him pull away in the later rounds to secure a unanimous points win after what was an engaging, all-action fight.
The same weight restrictions will be in place for the second fight in November, when the younger man Benn will again be moving up a couple of divisions as he seeks revenge.
Speaking on Call Chris Eubank, former two-weight world champion Eubank Sr was asked whether age will be a big factor in the rematch.
“It could be. It depends on the life that Junior has been living. If you’ve been burning the candle at the wrong end, then it will show up in the fight. If he has been strict with himself, then he could be OK.”
Whoever comes out on top this time around has a good claim for a world title push. For Benn, that would be down in his more natural welterweight division, while Eubank has long craved a fight with undisputed super-middleweight Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, who must first defend his belts against Terrence Crawford in September.
