Chris Eubank Sr has had his say on who he believes his son should be fighting instead of rival Conor Benn.

The feud between the Eubank and Benn families is set to be reignited when Junior and Conor lock horns in their highly anticipated showdown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on April 26.

Their rescheduled bout comes over two years after they were due to clash in October 2022, before it was revealed Benn had returned a positive result on a routine drugs test which led to its cancellation and a mountain of controversy which surrounded the 28-year-old.

After his provisional suspension was lifted late last year, the build-up for the rescheduled date is now well and truly under way, with Eubank Jr and Benn getting fired up at a recent press conference which saw the 35-year-old hit Benn with an egg. In light of this controversial move, Eubank Sr spoke to the Ring Magazine to have his say.

“I was extremely disappointed by the incident at the press conference where Chris Jr smashed an egg into Conor Benn’s face and his choice to use profanity … The Eubank legacy is built on discipline, respect, and professionalism, and this incident falls short of those values.”

The 58-year-old former world champion then revealed who he believes his son should be targeting in what would be a ‘legacy defining’ fight.

“To beat Canelo, he must listen and adhere to his father. His trainer. The one with the all-seeing eye. If I take an interest in a fight, and I do have an interest in this one, it’s because it is real. If Junior truly wants to cement his legacy, then there is only one road left. And that road leads to Canelo Alvarez.”

Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh recently revealed that he would be interested in making a fight between the winner of Eubank vs Benn and Canelo Alvarez in the early part of 2026. Meanwhile, the Mexican superstar faces William Scull this May in a bit to become two-time undisputed super-middleweight champion. He is then booked to face Terence Crawford in September.

A win over Benn, or even a pair of them given there is a rematch clause, would be a good start to then landing a fight against the man most consider to be the face of boxing.
