Bitter rivals Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are finally set to meet in April.

It has been over two years since the pair were originally scheduled to fight one another, with an October 2022 clash falling through on fight week after Benn failed a drugs test.

He has maintained his innocence to this day, and after a long and drawn out saga with UKAD and the British Boxing Board of Control, he is once again allowed to resume his career and will face Eubank Jr at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26.

One man who has been against the fight happening from the offset is Eubank Jr’s father Chris Sr, who felt that those involved in the fight were trying to ‘murder his boy’ by having the original fight at a catchweight of 157lbs.

The upcoming battle will now be at the middleweight limit of 160lbs, but that didn’t stop Eubank Sr sticking to his guns, stating on his YouTube channel that he would not be there because the bout still won’t go ahead.

“No, the fight will not happen. Not because of anything other than it breaks the rules. Rules are what we abide by. If we don’t abide by the rules then we are being reckless. Being reckless with what? With the lives of these fighters. Not just of Conor and Chris Jr, but the lives of all participants of combat sports.”

Eubank Sr appears to have now made a U-turn though, after Saudi chief Turki Alalshikh told Sky Sports that the boxing legend is now set to be in attendance, along with Benn’s father Nigel.

“We discussed it with them, and everyone will be there.”

Eubank Jr and Benn are set to kick off the promotion for their fight with a press tour this week, with plenty and back and forth between the two rivals expected.
