Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are yet to face off despite long being two of the biggest names in the heavyweight division.
It was Fury who won a world title first when he defeated Wladimir Klitschko on away soil back in 2015. A well-documented struggle with mental health and addiction then kept him away from the sport for two years, allowing ‘AJ’ – who also beat Klitschko in 2017 – to take the reigns as Britain’s biggest heavyweight star.
Fury returned in 2018 and fought to a draw with the fearsome knockout artists Deontay Wilder. He won the next two fights in the trilogy by stoppage and then beat the likes of Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte, but came unstuck – just like ‘AJ’ before him – in back-to-back fights with Oleksandr Usyk.
With neither man currently holding belts and a shot at one looking unlikely, it is the perfect time for the long-awaited clash. However, Fury’s abrupt retirement announcement in January put paid to those plans.
Still, former two-weight champion Holyfield was asked about that contest by FigthtHub and sided with ‘The Gypsy King’s ring IQ.
“That definitely would be a good fight cause both guys fight pretty much the same. I think Tyson Fury, he’s the type of guy that can make adjustments with him. I think he can outthink him.”
Joshua is still recovering from a small injury and considering his options for what will likely be his last few fights in the sport.
