Former World Champion Says He’s The Man To Beat Shakur Stevenson: “I Want To Humble Him”

A two-time world champion has vowed to become the first man to defeat pound-for-pound star Shakur Stevenson.

Stevenson made his highly-anticipated return to the ring on January 31 when he defeated Teofimo Lopez via unanimous decision to capture the WBO world super-lightweight title in New York City.

The 28-year-old from Newark put on an outstanding display against Lopez to become a world champion in a fourth weight class and earn himself a considerable ranking in the latest pound-for-pound ratings.

As rumours begin to circulate about what could be next for Stevenson, the Newark-native appears to have been targeted for a potential showdown with reigning WBC world super-featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Foster admitted that Stevenson is the one fighter that he wants to face before the end of his career as he claims he wants to ‘humble’ his countryman.

“He goofy. Like, I swear. If I can fight this dude tomorrow, whenever, like we will get it in. Like no questions, no nothing. By the end of my career that’s who I need to put hands on. Yeah, Shakur, that’s for sure.

“The friendly coming in my inbox trying to be friendly, but playing both sides with me and Savage. Just a lot, then he plays like he’s so good, better than everybody, talking about how much money he make and talking about this and that like, you know what I mean?

“Even after the fight, the fans was asking for the fight, he go on Instagram talking about ‘I make this amount, oh go starve’ and all that like goofy s**t so you know I wanna humble him. I’m gonna show him.”

Foster made his return to action back in December when he defeated Stephen Fulton Jr via unanimous decision to claim the WBC ‘interim’ world lightweight title at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
