Jake Paul made his return to the ring last month.

The 28-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer got the better of Mexico’s former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in their cruiserweight bout at the Honda Center in Anaheim on June 28.

Paul took control of the fight from the opening bell, although he faced little-to-no threat from the troubled 39-year-old, who has been criticised heavily in the aftermath by boxing fans and critics globally.

‘The Problem Child’ was declared the winner via unanimous decision to make it six consecutive victories since he suffered the first defeat of his professional career at the hands of Britain’s Tommy Fury two years ago.

In an interview with Seconds Out, two-weight world champion Carl Frampton expressed his concerns towards the ‘suspicious’ bout between Paul and Chavez, but does give credit to the American who he claims is ‘trying his best’.

“It’s a joke, I mean you can pick 15 better cruiserweights in England than Jake Paul. I don’t think he has the capabilities to win an English title but I think you have to give him credit as well.

“He’s improving, he’s trying his best to be a boxer but he picks and chooses the opponents correctly, now I’m not saying this is the case but it all seemed a little bit fishy in the last fight that Chavez only started throwing punches in the last two rounds.

“Is there some sort of agreement? I don’t know but it just all looked a little bit suspicious.”

Paul’s team has come out strongly against anyone suggesting that their fights are anything other than legitimate.

Paul entered the WBA cruiserweight world rankings at number 14 post-fight, which has been met with outrage from a large portion of the boxing community.

The 28-year-old is said to be targeting a showdown with WBA and WBO champion Gilberto Ramirez or WBC champion Badou Jack next, although it remains to be seen whether Paul’s wish will be granted.
