Mike Tyson‘s defeat to Jake Paul is still fresh in the minds of many boxing fans.
After eight months of build up, the fight finally took place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday, and became the first ever boxing event to be streamed live on Netflix.
As many predicted before the fight, 58-year-old Tyson was unable to deal with his much younger opponent, with Paul dominating proceedings on his way to a one-sided unanimous decision win.
The three judges scored it 80-72, 79-73, 79-73 to the YouTuber-turned-boxer, as he claimed the victory and extended his professional record to 11-1 in the process.
It has been a whirlwind journey for Paul, who made his professional debut back in 2020, and along with his win over Tyson has beaten other big names like Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz and Tyron Woodley during his career.
One former heavyweight champion has now claimed that he is to blame for Tyson’s loss to Paul, and that is Shannon Briggs.
Briggs worked with Paul during the early stages of his career, and he explained how that has helped develop the fighter seen today.
“I feel responsible because I feel like I created this monster. We developed what you see now with YouTube boxing. It’s crazy.”
Briggs also mentioned what he would have liked to have seen Tyson do differently in the fight.
“I would have liked to have seen Mike throw more punches. I wonder why he wasn’t.
“He should have went crazy and got busy and took it to him.”
James Toney is another boxing legend who had plenty to say prior to Tyson vs Paul, and he has now given a fresh verdict following the bout.
