Former World Champion Says He Would Have ‘Dismantled’ Every Current Champion In His Division

Boxers will always back themselves to come out on top in any fight and one retired champion has now done just that.

Boxing moves fast. Champions come and go and fighters are always jostling for position during their career, but one thing is for sure, even once retired, the desire to be the best never leaves them.

Sheffield’s Kell Brook is one such proud man. Although he hasn’t fought since he retired after his KO victory over his old rival Amir Khan in 2022, he was once one of the best welterweight fighters in the world.

Most famously, he beat Shawn Porter in his own backyard to become the IBF world champion back in 2014 and also took on the likes of Terence Crawford, Erol Spence and Gennady Golovkin.

Speaking to Boxing Social, Brook was asked how he would have got on with the likes of Conor Benn, Lewis Crocker and current WBC welterweight ruler Mario Barrios while in his prime.

“Kell Brook [when I was world champion] walks straight through them no problem. Even if you ask Eddie, Kell Brook would have dismantled them names with ease. That’s fact. That’s 100%. I were the Special One, I would take care of them. I would walk through them, I would be too sharp, too accurate, too punch-perfect for them, they would have got dismantled.”

Benn just beat Chris Eubank Jr in their much-anticipated grudge rematch in November and is now looking to pursue world honours against the likes of WBC ruler Barrios, while IBF champion Crocker is also another potential opponent in 2026.
