A retired two-time world champion has backed Manny Pacquiao to defeat Floyd Mayweather when they clash for the second time later this year.
It was revealed last week that the legendary duo would lock horns in a rematch at The Sphere in Las Vegas on Saturday September 19, just over ten years on from their monumental first showdown.
Mayweather came out on top the first time around as he won via unanimous decision to unify the WBC, WBA and WBO world welterweight titles at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
One man that has shown an interest in the controversial second encounter between Mayweather and Pacquiao is two-time light-welterweight champion Amir Khan.
In footage shared on social media, Khan didn’t hesitate to back ‘PacMan’ to defeat ‘Money’ as he claims the Filipino icon is in better shape than the former pound-for-pound superstar.
“I like Manny Pacquiao in the second one, because I think Mayweather’s slowing down a little bit … Age catches up on you, and I think with Manny always looking in good shape – obviously he’s not partying, not drinking; Mayweather’s always partying, chilling, enjoying himself – I think there’s a different way of living for both fighters.
“Mayweather’s still like a 20-year-old kid, whereas Manny Pacquiao’s very intelligent and he’s on the right path. I’ve got Manny Pacquiao winning that fight. But who knows? Mayweather always ends up pulling it off. But I feel that Manny Pacquiao [is] the favourite.”
Pacquiao made a sensational return to the ring last July when he fought to a majority draw against former WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios, although many believe ‘PacMan’ had done more than enough to get his hand raised.
As for Mayweather, the 49-year-old from Michigan has not fought as a professional since he faced MMA fighter Conor McGregor in August 2017, although he has participated in a number of exhibition contests over the years.
