Moses Itauma is one of the most hotly tipped heavyweight talents in the sport right now.

This young fighter debuted when he was 18 and soon drew comparisons to Mike Tyson, who still holds the record for being the youngest ever world heavyweight champion when he was 20.

Itauma has since had 13 fights and won all of them, including 11 by stoppage and nine of those inside the first two rounds. Last time out, he got his most impressive win when he stopped former world title challenger and long-time contender Dillian Whyte inside the first two minutes of their fight in August.

Matching him with opponents has proven hard, but he is next out on January 24 in defence of his number one ranking with the WBA when he takes on American veteran Jermaine Franklin, who took both Whyte and Anthony Joshua the distance last time he was over on UK shores.

Should he come through that, he is being lined up for a fight with the winner of Kubrat Pulev and Murat Gassiev, who fight next week for the secondary WBA title.

Pulev has previously taken on Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko – being stopped by both – and speaking to SunSport, the Bulgarian gave his views on fighting Itauma.

“He’s good. Undefeated, very quick. We will see. It will not be easy, but why not?”

Promoter Al Siesta then offered Itauma a ringside seat for Pulev’s next fight.

“We should invite Moses Itauma, he’s a great guy. A nice guy. He’s more than welcome.”

Pulev has not lost since 2022, when he was beaten on the cards by Derek Chisora, though he is now 44 with plenty of miles on the clock.
