Manny Pacquiao vs. Mario Barrios is just a few days away.
‘Pac-Man’ will end his boxing retirement and return to the sport at the age of 46 after a four-year absence as he challenges Barrios for his WBC welterweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The Filipino boxing legend will attempt to make history as the oldest welterweight world champion in history, breaking the record he set himself when he defeated Keith Thurman back in 2019.
Thurman has also shared the ring with Barrios, claiming a unanimous decision win over the current WBC champion back in February 2022.
Having taken on both Pacquiao and Barrios in his career, Thurman revealed to FightHype that he was leaning narrowly towards one man to come out on top.
“I just slightly favour Mario Barrios. I think we’re in a new generation, and this is a sign. Pacquiao loses to Barrios and its out with the old, this is a complete new generation, we ain’t going to hear those names anymore like Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. It’ll be a done deal.”
Thurman then expanded on why he feels Barrios will come out on top.
“Age and just styles. If Barrios makes him work for it, don’t just try to beat up Pacquiao, make him work for it. Go back and watch how Pacquiao lost to Ugas.”
Should ‘Pac-Man’ cause the upset and defeat Barrios on July 19, he has revealed there is ‘one huge fight’ remaining that he wants to secure before ending his boxing career for good.
