Fabio Wardley has yet another man vying for a shot at his belt.

The big-punching Brit was elevated from interim to full WBO World Heavyweight Champion late last year following a knockout victory over Joseph Parker.

Wardley’s rise has been something quite sensational watch, from a white collar fighting background to the very top of the sport’s most unforgiving division.

Despite his wishes of a unification bout against unified champion Oleksandr Usyk, who vacated the belt rather than face Wardley as mandatory challenger, the man from Ipswich must look elsewhere for his first bout as top dog, as the Ukrainian has instead targeted Deontay Wilder.

With a voluntary defence permitted, Wardley and his team have plenty of big names to choose from, and he has mentioned the likes of Tyson Fury and Derek Chisora.

Agit Kabayel has now made his case to be in the opposite corner. The brutal body puncher retained his WBC Interim belt with a third round victory over Damien Knyba this weeend in Germany, and was quick to call out Wardley at the post-fight press conference.

“Fabio, why not? He has the WBO world title. Why not? We can make it in Germany or the UK… Send me location.”

Kabayel has halted Arslanbek Makhmudov, Frank Sanchez, Zhilei Zhang and now Knyba to cement himself as a top three heavyweight in the world. He is also chasing Usyk, but, like Wardley, won’t be high on the Ukrainian great’s list of targets.
