Chris Eubank Jr. came in a fraction over the contracted weight limit for his fight with Conor Benn after a difficult cut.
The weights show the gulf in size between the men that has dominated most of the debate and predictions in the lead-up to the bout, which has been rescheduled from 2022 when Benn failed a doping test and was forced out.
Whilst Eubank has been competing at middleweight throughout his career and hasn’t fought at super-middleweight (168lbs) since 2019, many are concerned that, at 35-years-old, the weight cut is becoming dangerous. The backlash has continued from the initial fight’s 157lbs catchweight, which was almost certainly too low.
Eubank has now released footage on social media of the processes he used to drop the final few pounds for this morning’s weigh-in, saying, “Pain is temporary… Glory is forever.”

Despite the optimism, the comments section was littered with worry for Junior. One fan said plainly that the fight is ‘so dangerous’ whilst another encouraged Eubank to ‘forget the contracted rehydration clause’ – not more than 10lbs put on by tomorrow morning – and take a second fine.
Finally, one Instagram user said ‘Eubank Sr was right,’ referencing Chris’ father’s stance that the fight is against the rules and should not be happening.
The fighters come face-to-face for a final time this evening at the ceremonial weigh-in, though there is already speculation that Eubank may skip it.
