Terence Crawford is currently a world champion with a target on his back.

Crawford sits atop many people’s pound-for-pound list right now, and fairly so. He is a former undisputed super-lightweight world champion who also became undisputed at welterweight in July 2023 when he beat Errol Spence Jr.

Since then he has fought just once against Israil Madrimov which was up at 154 lbs. He won a points decision to become world champion in that division at the first time of asking and is now weighing up his options.

He has been linked with fights with the likes of Sebastian Fundora and also unified super-middleweight champion and fellow pound-for-pound star Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez but as of yet, nothing has been firmed up.

One man who is keen for his shot is number 1 ranked WBO contender Tim Tszyu. The former WBO super-welterweight champion is currently looking to rebuild after losing to Fundora on a close points decision after a bad cut hampered him in their fight back in March.

Speaking to The Only Kayla, Tszyu discussed the idea of Crawford-Fundora.

“I think it would be interesting, you know. Because he’s so tall and his arms are quite lanky. Crawford and Spence are technicians. For me, I don’t care. I’ll take a few hits but I’m gunna put more in. These guys are different, they don’t like to take hits at all, so it would be interesting to see how that unfolds.”

He then turned to the idea of facing ‘Bud’ himself, confident of a win ‘by any means necessary.’

“Oh I’m confident in victory by any means necessary.”

Tszyu returns to the ring on October 19 to face Russia’s Bakhram Murtazaliev for the IBF belt.
