The Only Fighter Who Has Faced Both Terence Crawford And Vergil Ortiz Delivers Bold Prediction

Terence Crawford and Vergil Ortiz could be on a collision course for a future fight.

Crawford is the reigning WBA super-welterweight champion after he stepped up to the division and defeated Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision in August.

It was the latest world title win for the American after being champion at lightweight and undisputed at both super-lightweight and welterweight.

Now that he’s competing at 154 pounds, ‘Bud’ has been linked with a number of other big names in the division, with hard-hitting Ortiz one of them.

Ortiz is the reigning WBC interim super-welterweight champion, winning the belt with a controversial unanimous decision win against Serhii Bohachuk in August. He returns in February to face Madrimov in Saudi Arabia.

One man that has fought both Crawford and Ortiz is ‘Mean Machine’ Egidijus Kavaliauskas. He was stopped in nine rounds by ‘Bud’ in December 2019, before Ortiz then finished him in eight in August 2021. There are the only two defeats that Kavaliauskas has suffered in his career.

Should Crawford and Ortiz meet in the ring, he didn’t hesitate to predict that Ortiz would win when speaking to Fight Hub TV.

“I would back Vergil Ortiz. I think he’s the winner in that fight and would beat Crawford. Maybe with a stoppage because he’s an aggressive and powerful guy. With that aggression and power he’s a dangerous man. He’s a stronger boxer.”

Kavaliauskas isn’t the only man to make a prediction for the potential fight, with respected analyst Teddy Atlas backing Crawford.
