Fighter Rules Out Gervonta Davis Clash After Latest Arrest: “I’m Not Facing Him”

Gervonta Davis made the headlines once again this week, albeit for all the wrong reasons.

The 30-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland was arrested on suspicion of a domestic violence charge earlier this week, despite him being in preparations for his highly-anticipated rematch with countryman Lamont Roach Jr.

It has been speculated over the last few weeks that the second encounter between the lightweight stars was set to take place on Saturday August 16 in Las Vegas, although an official announcement is yet to be made.

The rematch against ‘The Reaper’ could now be hanging in the balance after ‘Tank’ found himself in hot water with the authorities once again, two and a half years after he was arrested just days before his showdown with Hector Garcia back in 2022.

In an interview with iFL TV, British welterweight contender Conor Benn shared his thoughts on Davis’ recent arrest, as he claims he will never share the ring with the unbeaten American following this news.

“He’s an idiot, listen I don’t care who you are, how much world titles you’ve got you can shove your world titles up your a–, you lay a hand on a woman, you lay a finger on a woman, you deserve to be never be able to fight again, and banged up for life … I ain’t sharing a ring with him, he’s a scumbag, putting your hands on a woman? Not once, it’s his 20th arrest, I don’t condone it at all.”

Benn is just two months away from his huge rematch with bitter rival Chris Eubank Jr, which is due to take place at an unconfirmed venue in London on Saturday September 20.
