Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez already has his next two fights lined up.
The Mexican superstar returns in May to take on IBF champion William Scull, where a victory would see WBC, WBA and WBO champion Alvarez once again become undisputed at 168lbs.
Canelo is then set to face Terence Crawford in September, with ‘Bud’ moving up two weight divisions from super-welterweight as he goes in search of becoming a five-weight world champion and potentially a three-weight undisputed champion.
The fights against Scull and Crawford came after Alvarez recently signed a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, and while his 2025 may be already set, it leaves two future fights for Canelo.
That has resulted in one current unbeaten star who is on a 15 fight knockout streak stating that it’s a ‘big possibility’ that he will face Canelo in the future.
The man in question is Hamzah Sheeraz, who takes on Carlos Adames for the WBC middleweight title in Saudi Arabia this weekend. The 6’3” ‘monster’ for middleweight told Sky Sports that he feels a win could pave the way for a fight with Alvarez.
“Why not? He’s one of my boxing heroes, and I think if you don’t aim to fight the best you’re in the wrong game.
“Especially now when fights can happen just like that with His Excellency, so hopefully come Saturday night I get it done and then it’s a big possibility.”
While Sheeraz is keen on a fight with Canelo, a reigning world champion doesn’t share that sentiment, after stating he is no longer interested in facing the Mexican icon.
