Fighter Who Sparred Canelo And Crawford Didn’t Hesitate To Pick A Winner: “He Has The Skills”

Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are currently searching for opponents for their respective next fights.

Canelo was last in action in September when he retained his WBC, WBA and WBO super-middleweight titles with a unanimous decision win over Edgar Berlanga.

Crawford fought in August, stepping up to 154lbs to defeat Israil Madrimov on points and win the WBA super-welterweight title.

A fight between Canelo and Crawford has long been speculated, with ‘Bud’ stating that he would be willing to move up to 168lbs for the clash.

Middleweight contender Kyrone Davis has previously sparred both men, and he has told YSM Sports Media how he would favour Canelo if the two did meet.

“Everybody knows that Crawford got the skills. I do think Canelo is a little big for Crawford and it would be a tall task for him to win. It will be a lot for him to get that victory based on size alone. Not that size wins fights but you got a guy that has size and skills. It will be hard.

“Nothing is impossible, but if I had money on somebody winning the fight, it would be Canelo Alvarez. They’re both great fighters, but one guy has the advantage due to how big he is. That will be the deciding factor in that fight.

“It will be a lot harder to damage Canelo. His punches will be way more effective than Crawford’s punches if they fight at 168.”

Davis isn’t the only man to predict the fight, with boxing legend Miguel Cotto also offering his thoughts on the showdown.
