Floyd Mayweather Jr has had his say on the punching power of former rival Manny Pacquiao.

After years of speculation, Mayweather and Pacquiao finally locked horns in the ‘Fight Of The Century’ on Saturday May 2 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Despite the hype surrounding the monumental showdown, the fight failed to catch fire and live up to its expectations. After an underwhelming twelve rounds, Mayweather was declared the winner via unanimous decision to unify the WBC, WBA and WBO welterweight titles.

Whilst Mayweather would announce his retirement from boxing just two years after his victory over ‘PacMan’, the Filipino icon is just weeks away from making a sensational return to the sport when he faces WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios after a four year hiatus.

In a resurfaced Youtube interview, Mayweather admitted that although he did feel the punching power of Pacquiao when they fought a decade ago, he claimed that it was ‘nothing’ he hasn’t felt before, simply saying ‘it’s solid’.

“Pacquiao obviously got power also, you know I’ve been in there with him. He’s solid, he’s solid, it ain’t nothing I’ve never felt before but he’s solid.

He felt me too that’s why he wasn’t quick to run in there, so it’s obvious we both felt each other.”

Should Pacquiao prevail against Barrios in Las Vegas next month, the 46-year-old will become the oldest welterweight champion in boxing history, breaking the record that he actually set himself back in 2019 when he dethroned former WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman at 40-years-old.
