Floyd Mayweather‘s defence is rated as one of the best in boxing history.
It was that defence that helped earn him his nickname ‘Pretty Boy’ due to the lack of shots he would ever get hit with, something that continued all the way throughout his career.
Mayweather retired with a perfect record of 50-0, having never been officially knocked down during his career, despite being in the ring with some huge punchers.
He has now gone into detail on one of the best punches he received, and that came from Shane Mosley when they met back in May 2010.
“Shane hit me with a hell of a shot, actually two shots. In that particular round what I said to Shane was ‘you gotta kill me. That was a good one, but you gotta kill me.’ And I meant it.”
Mayweather was a big favourite heading into the bout with Mosley, but then was caught with a shot in the second round that caught his attention.
Mosley then landed another big punch that buckled Mayweather’s knees, and it was the most trouble he had ever been in throughout his career. Somehow he managed to see out the round and then began to take over from that point onwards.
Mayweather won the fight by unanimous decision, but it remains the one occasion where fans truly believed that he may be about to lose his undefeated record.
While Mosley may have hit him with the biggest shot, Mayweather opted for another man when naming the toughest fighter he had ever been in the ring with.
