Floyd Mayweather Has Now Ranked His Top 5 Fighters Of All Time

Floyd Mayweather is widely regarded as one of the best ever, and now he’s had his say on his top five of all time.

Mayweather retired with an unbeaten record of 50-0, and was a five-weight world champion having reigned from super-featherweight to super-welterweight.

He defeated some of the biggest names the sport has ever seen during his career, including Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez and Miguel Cotto.

Mayweather has now ranked his top five ever, and after being offered himself as one of the picks, began with his first choice for the remaining four.

Pernell Whitaker

“We gotta go Pernell Whitaker.”

Whitaker was a four-weight world champion, and regarded as one of the greatest defensive boxers of all time.

Next up, Mayweather went with another legend of the sport.

Roberto Duran

“I’m gonna go Roberto Duran.”

Duran was also a four-weight world champion, ending his career with a remarkable record of 103 wins and 16 defeats, with 70 wins coming by knockout.

Mayweather then chose some heavyweight royalty, and explained his reasons why.

Larry Holmes

“I got to say Larry Holmes. That man had the basic fundamentals, he had the jab, and even right now he’s still living a great life because he made smart investments. He was good from the beginning of his career to the end of his career.”

Holmes was world heavyweight champion from 1978 to 1985, and defeated Muhammad Ali in Ali’s penultimate fight.

Mayweather then revealed his final pick.

Aaron Pryor

“Aaron Pryor.”

Pryor was a two-time super-lightweight champion, and ended with a career of 39 wins and just one defeat, with 35 wins by knockout.

Along with picking his top five of all time, Mayweather has also named the one world champion he’s glad he didn’t have to fight.
