Over ten years on from their first encounter, Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao are on the verge of finalising a deal to do battle once again.

Mayweather handed Pacquiao the 6th defeat of his professional career when they locked horns for the WBC, WBA and WBO world welterweight titles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in May of 2015.

The legendary duo look set to face each other in what is likely to be a professional contest later this year, with both men participating in exhibition bouts beforehand.

Mayweather is being tipped to face heavyweight great Mike Tyson in the Democratic Republic of Congo this April, although an official announcement is yet to be made.

As for Pacquiao, the eight-division world champion made a sensational return to the paid ranks last July when he fought to a majority draw against former WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios. He has now announced an exhibition against Ruslan Provodnikov, also for April.

As reported on the latest instalment of the Inside The Ring Show, Mayweather and Pacquiao are in line to cross paths once again later this year, with The Sphere in Las Vegas set to host the rematch.

The Sphere opened in September 2023 after several years of construction, marking the debut of one of the most technologically advanced entertainment venues in the world.

The 17,500-seat arena features a 16K-resolution wraparound LED interior screen spanning more than 160,000 square feet, along with advanced spatial audio and haptic systems designed to create an immersive viewing experience.

In 2024, the venue hosted a event from the UFC, becoming one of the most high-profile sports productions staged at the arena. Despite Las Vegas’ long association with prizefighting, the venue has not yet hosted a professional boxing event, but that may chance come September.
