Someone who has been up close and personal with Anthony Joshua in the gym is predicting a knockout finish when he fights Daniel Dubois.
In the early part of his career, Joshua was a knockout machine. His first 14 fights all ended by stoppage inside the first three rounds.
When he stepped up the level of competition he continued to send his rivals to the canvas and unable to recover, including Dillian Whyte, Charles Martin for the IBF world title, Dominic Breazeale, Eric Molina and even former long-reining champion Wladimir Klitschko. Joseph Parker was the first man to take him the distance.
It wasn’t until his 23rd fight against Andy Ruiz that he tasted defeat only to win the rematch. In 2021 and 2022 he was derailed once more over 24 gruelling rounds with Oleksandr Usyk that saw him come out on the wrong end of two points losses.
Now he is back to knockout ways with three back-to-back stoppages that have led him to an IBF showdown with Daniel Dubois on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.
Ahead of that, Robert Garcia, who was in ‘AJ’s corner for the Usyk rematch, has spoken to Boxing King Media and predicted a big win for Joshua.
“It is a close fight because we can’t underestimate a world champion, nobody can, nobody should, but me personally I think the activity, the confidence he built in his last four fights, it’s enough to turn it into an easy fight. I think Joshua wins comfortably and I think he wins by knockout.”
Garcia also recently backed Joshua to beat Tyson Fury should the pair ever meet.
