Jake Paul has a target on his back, particularly because of how much fighters are set to earn if they step through the ropes with him.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer recently had his 12th contest in the sport, a record-breaking eight-rounder against ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

The 58-year-old was largely uncompetitive and lost a wide points decision on the cards. Paul was criticised for going after Tyson, who retired back in 2005 past his best and on back-to-back losses.

Speaking to Boxing Social, another former heavyweight champion in Shannon Briggs wasn’t happy with Tyson’s performance and has offered to step up himself.

“I didn’t think much of it. He did what he had to do to get the money. It was cool, but I think Mike could’ve knocked him out. If he can’t, I will – let’s go champ.”

Briggs, 53, played a part in the early training camps of Jake and brother Logan’s entry into the sport. He has said that he ‘feels responsible’ for the rise of the 27-year-old, though clearly wants to cash in on that if he believes a fight is a real possibility.

The big puncher from Brownsville, the same area as Tyson, last fought in 2016 and has an incredible 37 first round finishes. He lost in his first attempt at the world heavyweight title in a fire fight with Lennox Lewis but would ultimately win the WBO belt against Siarhei Liakhovich in 2006.

Paul, having defeated the division’s most well-known former champion, is likely to look elsewhere for his next move. He has been called out by current titlists in three divisions.
